Background Information
The Operating Engineers Training School Local 37 is an apprenticeship program for persons interested in becoming an Operating Engineer and/or Mechanic. We teach/train the students how to safely and effectively operate and maintain heavy equipment. They will receive on-the-job training as well as instructed learning in the classroom. They also complete 12 weeks of field training while enrolled in the apprenticeship program. Students will earn many industry related certifications while in the apprenticeship program
such as First Aid/CPR/AED, Signaling & Rigging, Class A & B CDL License, Hazmat, OSHA, Forklift, MSHA, etc. They can continue their education and maintain their certifications after graduation through the training school as long as they are a local 37 member in good standing.
Why we want to hire veterans
We want to hire Veterans at the Operating Engineers Training School Local 37 because they are reliable, teachable, have excellent communication skills as well as the ablility to take direction and work well with others.
What we currently do for veterans at our company
We participate in the helmets to hardhats programs and work with the VA for the veterans participating in the GI Bill. We train veterans and employ them in the construction industry as an Operating Engineer.
