Work Experience:
Please consider me for any opportunities in construction management that your company may have to offer. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in May 2022 with a degree in International Economics, concentrating in Financial Economics and minoring in Real Estate. Currently, I am a Platoon Leader in the Army National Guard and am finishing up my initial entry training as an Infantry Officer at Fort Benning, GA. I would be delighted at the opportunity to start a career in construction management after my graduation in April 2023. The qualities I have to offer your company are:
- An Achiever with Outstanding Interpersonal Skills: I am excited at the thought of acquiring new skill sets, and I am willing to put in the work to excel at what I do. I thrive in social settings and enjoy getting to know people. Having studied numerous languages throughout the years of my formal education, I am accustomed to communicating across cultural barriers. Although I am outgoing and easy to get along with, you can have confidence that I will not shy away from conflict and am willing to engage in difficult conversations to get the job done.
- Demonstrated Leader & Team Player: I thrive in a team environment and have had success in numerous leadership roles. Throughout my high school and college years and most recently my time with the US Army, I have put myself in leadership positions, allowing me to become a stronger person as well as benefit those whom I've been entrusted to lead. Being in the military has taught me to exercise disciplined initiative to accomplish the mission and allowed me to practice the emotional intelligence required to lead a diverse team.
- Motivated Problem-Solver: I have worked in numerous manual labor positions, to include construction laboring, and I understand that the jobsite can get quite complicated. I want to work in a career that allows me the opportunity to think critically and provide creative solutions to issues at hand. I am eager to challenge myself and begin the next stage of my life with a career in building things that matter.
In closing, the ultimate goal of construction management is building a community, literally and metaphorically. The prospect of being able to add tangible physical value to this world excites me. I want to leave a legacy on this Earth, and I see construction management as a sure way to do this. It resonates with my personal mission in life to serve others and improve the world. With this, I ask you to consider me for any opportunities in construction management positions your company may have to offer. Thank you in advance for your consideration, and feel free to contact me at bobrien8@alumni.nd.edu or (708) 990-8048.
Respectfully,
Brennan O’Brien
