  Duties Description:

  A Corporal of Marines (Cpl) serving as a 3531 Motor Vehicle Operator is a junior noncommissioned officer responsible for both mission execution and small-unit leadership within a motor transport platoon. As a 3531, the corporal operates a wide range of tactical and commercial vehicles—including MTVRs, LVSs, HMMWVs, and logistics variants—to transport personnel, equipment, and supplies in support of combat, training, and humanitarian operations.

  In addition to driving duties, the corporal supervises junior Marines, ensuring proper vehicle operation, preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS), and compliance with safety and convoy procedures. They plan and execute convoy operations, conduct route reconnaissance, enforce load plans, and maintain accountability for vehicles, cargo, and personnel.

  As a leader, the corporal mentors lance corporals and PFCs, enforces standards of discipline, and serves as the link between enlisted Marines and staff NCOs. They are expected to make sound decisions under pressure, adapt to austere environments, and uphold the Marine Corps’ values while ensuring mission success and the welfare of their Marines.
