I am in my seventh year of service with the North Dakota Army National Guard as a combat medic. I deployed in 2021 as an Air Defense Battle Management Systems Operator to Washington DC. There I was a lead team member for a mobile RADAR platform that was tasked with short notice, no-fail missions around the country. As a lead team member I was responsible for site set-up and over-seeing operation of equipment on a 24hr shift. This job aslo helped me build skillls in set-up and operation of secure networks.
On the civilian side I have been working mostly in building/apartment maintenace where I learned basic carpentry skills as well as some plmbing, elctrical, and HVAC. My most recent job has seen me applying of the same skills I have developed there in residential and commercial construction.

Duties Description:The ADA senior sergeant supervises, plans, coordinates, and directs the emplacement, operation, unit level maintenance and management of air defense artillery weapon systems in support of ADA units at all levels; supervises and provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties; supervise training, evaluations and certification of AD crews in AD table training crew-drills; monitors unit equipment readiness and prepares monthly readiness reports; perform inspections on maintenance records and demand supported/diagnostics repair parts stockage procedures; designs and implements the unit maintenance programs; coordinate with maintenance and logistical support activities; perform organizational planning, operations and training.
On this deployment, I acted as a Senior Sentinel RADAR Operator. My primary duties were to lead my teammates, receive mission briefs and help plan setup, emplace and operate 64A3 Sentinel Radar, set up remote secure communications networks, and provide security for the site while under operation. my other duties included operator-level maintenance of the RADAR and support vehicles, computer systems, and proper storage and handling of classified equipment. All of this was performed successfully in a no-fail mission environment.
