Hello! My name is 1LT Austin Schondel. I have been serving in the Michigan National Guard for almost 7 years now. I enlisted as a 12N in 2017 then contracted as a cadet in Central Michigan University's ROTC program in 2018 and commissioned as an Engineer Officer in 2021 where I have since served as a Horizontal Engineer Platoon Leader for the 1430 EN CO and more recently as an AS3 for the 107 EN BN during our deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Spartan Shield. I have always had an interest in the construction field and would love to continue down that path ultimately making it into a construction management position. I have managed projects during my time as a Platoon Leader and created an extensive Safety Program while overseas for over 750 personnel. I look forward to seeing what opportunities are ahead.
