Work Experience:

As a wheeled vehicle mechanic in the Army for six and a half years I gained a lot of experience working with my hands and learning how to problem solve issues on the fly but also with an eye to the future and planning ahead. It taught me the importance of working as a team to achieve the goals and objectives put forth. Following my time in the military I attended Wyotech and completed their automotive and management program. For 7 years after that I worked for a small, boutique moving company in Los Angeles. Very much like the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, somebody has to deliver all that stuff. I was that somebody. I drew on my driving experience in the military and my personal knowledge of how to get around LA to complete as many jobs as possible in a day on top of all the last-minute things that come up from working with designers. Last year I completed the SMAW course offered at WCC in Pomona and was 3G certified. My time in the military prepared me to show up to work on time, prepared and ready to work, possibly long hours in possibly not the greatest of conditions.

    Responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and associated items, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles; Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers and material handling equipment systems; Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components; Service automotive electrical systems including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems Perform wheeled vehicle recovery operations.

    Role Description:

    Drove a 14 foot box truck around Los Angeles for hundreds of miles a week without incident. As the lead mover I was in charge of another person, sometimes two to load, transport and unload designer furniture into clients homes, businesses or storage/warehouse. Was the point of contact for dispatch in regards to maintaining the schedule of the days jobs. Also performed work in other states that involved driving clear cross country without incident.
