Work Experience:
My name is Michael Kingsbury. I was in the Navy stationed overseas in Bahrain from 2013-2017. I was a petty officer second class Gunners mate, surface rescue swimmer, and a visit board search and seizure team (vbss) team member onboard Uss Firebolt Pc-10. I got out of the navy and went to a commercial dive school in Brainerd,Minnesota and worked for Lindahl Marine in Minooka, Illinois under local 150. I dove for about 6 months after I completed dive school. There was not enough work to keep me around, but I learned a lot and hustled. After that I heard about an opportunity at peoples gas in chicago and used my G.I. bill to acquire the training to become a utility worker for the gas company. I've been doing that for the past 4.5 years and I have done everything from getting my CDL, to building large meter sets and repiping large multi-unit buildings with crews. I currently am a student at Truman College, learning for my own benefit about auto mechanics for my spare time and I just signed up for sailing class for the summer. I am always ready for a challenge and fit to do so. My military experience allowed me to branch out and believe in myself that I can achieve just about anything I put my mind to. I want to get in with the elevators union because I want another challenge in my life and I believe this would be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Job Title: Diver
Company: Lindahl Marine
Period: June 2018 - December 2018
Role Description:I was basically a laborer and an underwater garbage man. We would go to industrial plants, and clean out all the debris that was getting sucked in off of rivers or in lakes. On land we would set up large pumps and hoses and would vacuum all the debris out which was mostly sand and zebra muscles and foreign objects. Anything else we would either have a basket hooked up to an A frame or an actual crane operator and I would break large pieces up if I could and put them in the basket to haul out . Sometimes we would have to rig pumps up in the water to steel structures and tie knots around objects to haul out of the water. If you weren't diving you were responsible for communications with the diver, making sure the air compressor was feeding air to the divers umbilical and that the pumps were working correctly and not clogged. If you weren't doing that, you would make sure the diver would not get fouled in his umbilical by paying out as much line as the diver needed as the dive tender. The water was cold and it's not for the weak.

I started doing routine small meter turn-ons (activating gas), turn-offs, small meter changes, building meter sets, installing gas regulators on the above ground side. I then got my CDL and started driving the truck and trailer, digging holes with a crew, breaking up the street, splitting traffic by setting up a safety zone, cleaning gas main, helping repair gas leaks on main up to 24 inches in diameter by sandblasting clean and placing bandclamps or muff mixtures on the main. After that I was working by myself getting non pay shut off assignments, taking and locking off meters from non pay customers. Currently, I am working with the above ground pipe fitting crews where we are either fixing leaks on pipe above ground or replacing entire services and or moving meters outside, coring through the wall and tie back into the customer's piping. I have done just about everything from dump truck driver, to by myself and helper on both sides of the house .
