I recently deployed as a vehicle mechanic with the 1-182nd FAR, leaving behind my job as a commercial carpenter CNC operator. I learned how to properly maintain wheeled vehicles and woodworking machinery through these experiences. For these jobs I worked closely with some who knew much more than I did, and also with some who knew much less than I did. I was able to learn from those around me who were more knowledgeable and teach those who had less experience working with large machinery than myself. I work best in small teams and have ease communicating candidly with superior ranking members of the force I'm attached to.

    Role Description:

    As a CNC Operator I set up and used wood-cutting machinery to build parts for commercial use such as tables, shelves, desks and countertops. My job was to either check a pre-existing program for the correct dimensions and specifications. If the program was off, I would rewrite it or create a new one. At the start and end of each day and in between jobs, I performed inspections of equipment to ensure the quality of the product and to keep a safe work environment.
