My name is Richard Rutherford, and I've been employed by the trades for most of my life. I spent my youth working for my father's building company. In 2010, I began working for a precast cement factory where I gained valuable heavy equipment operation experience, in addition to experience with the trowel trades. I enlisted in the US Army as an Infantryman in 2016; deployed to Paktika Province, Afghanistan in 2018; finished my Active duty service obligation by 2021. Thereafter, I sought continuing education through various schools in Colorado where I gained some experience in the insulation industry as an Installer; a Residential Electrician as an Apprentice; and several other companies as a laborer. As of March of 2024, I returned home to Michigan to develop my career as an Electrician closer to home. 

My goal is to become a Journeyman Electrician by 2029, and eventually form my own LLC as an Electrical Contractor. I thrive in fast-paced environments; treat everything as a learning/growth opportunity; and constantly seek to better myself.

    Duties Description:

    Infantryman. Achieved Assistant Team Leader position while in a Reconnaisance Troop. After achieving that, I went on to achieve my SPC(P) status from the Promotion Board. I owned several additional duties: in addition to Unit Armorer, I also spearheaded the UAV program for my unit and coordinated training events at a Brigade level. I was selected by my Squadron Commander to perform outreach programs to the local elementary school alongside my subordinates. In addition to these duties, I performed the tasks of an Operations NCO for over 100 personnel to achieve better quality of military education and benefits for all soldiers that I served with.

    Role Description:

    Served in a capacity as a technician in maintaining, repairing, and

    servicing the mold equipment to ensure quality and timely manufacture

    ● Operated overhead cranes, transporting loads in excess of 12,000 lbs. on a

    daily basis with no incidents and no injuries

    ● Operated forklifts and a Bobcat Skid-steer to facilitate the transportation

    of materials and product throughout the facility in a safe manner
