Duties Description:My MOS was 0612 Field Wiremen, working in telecommunications. However, I spent very little time in my actual MOS. I was crossed trained as a Radio Operator and sent to work with a Mortar platoon where I operated, troubleshot and maintained various types of radio equipment. As the only communication Marine in the platoon, it was my responsibility to determine the needs of the platoon based on the operation and provide the Marines with the necessary assets to successfully carry out their mission.

- Make white liquor by recaustisizing green liquor (mixture of lime and green liquor) through slaker system and use chemical testing to determine strength and make adjustments to rates and temperature of products going into slaker bowl.
- Maintaining levels in various vats, clarifiers and washers by adjusting rates of speed in production or use of product.
- Troubleshoot system using chemical analysis to determine where or how the system may be upset.
- Perform hourly chemical testing to ensure product quality that is internal to our department as well as product that goes to other departments.
- Line up pumps and/or valves to change flow of product.
- Safely work with steam energy to drive equipment or to heat product.
- Safely acid wash equipment when needed based on fouling factor and runnability issues.
- To safely take down or start up equipment or parts of process while maintaining other aspects of production to ensure runnability of the whole mill.
