  Duties Description:

  Operation Specialists (OS) function as plotters, radio-telephone and Command and Control sound-powered telephone talkers and maintain Combat Information Center (CIC) displays of strategic and tactical information. They operate surveillance and altitude radars Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), and associated equipment. They also serve as Air Traffic Controllers for helicopters and fixed-wing supersonic jet aircraft. OS Sailors serve as watch supervisors and section leaders; interpret and evaluate presentations and tactical situations and make recommendations to supervisors during watch conditions. Led a team of 55 sailors through a 4 year CVN Refueling and Complex Overhaul at Newport News Shipyard while leading the LED team which rewired all light fixtures onboard to carry led bulbs and the ventilation team which repaired and replaced fan cooling units, ducting, drainpipes and chilled water piping. In addition served as a work center supervisor for the department and a damage control petty officer ensuring all damage control equipment scheduled maintenance was completed including fire main valves and their systems.
