Kyle Kruthoff

Biography:

Work Experience: 5.4 years

Work Experience:

My name is Kyle Kruthoff, and I have been part of the Illinois and Iowa National Guard for the last 5 years as an All-Wheeled Mechanic. I was promoted to Sergeant in April 2025. My jobs within the military include working on all-wheeled vehicles of all sizes, doing everything from engine rebuilds to simple tasks of transmisson and tire services.

In my civilian life, I work as a full-time service technician/mechanic for Sloan Implement in Fulton, IL. As part of my job there, I troubleshoot and diagnose issues on different machines such as tractors, lawnmowers, skid loaders, and different types of Ag equipment. I also diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components and do preventive maintenance tasks such as routine oil changes and fluid replacements on machines along with transmission services, battery services, hydraulic services, and HVAC systems. Part of my job also includes reading technical manuals and following step by step procedures on different types of maintenance: fluid capacities, pressures, types of fluid, and step by step testing.

My military career has helped me to grown into a responsible and organized individual with a strong work ethic, good interpersonal and verbal skills, a high level of organization, professionalism, and discipline.

My career goal is to join a union and become a Heavy Equipment Technician. Both my great-grandfather and my mother are/were union members, so I appreciate the support that unions give and how you become a family in a union just like the military.
