Hi,
My name is Ty Chehock. I am 21 years old and was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. I graduated high school a semester early and immediately went on to basic training and technical school through the Air National Guard.
I am currently serving in the Air National Guard as an Electrical Systems Journeyman, and I plan to serve until reaching my 20-year mark. Through my military training and experience, I have discovered the trades and realized that this is the career path I want to pursue for the rest of my life.
I have also completed 25 college credits with a 3.6 GPA. I am young, motivated, teachable, and willing to put in the time and effort necessary to become a skilled tradesman. I am not afraid of hard work, long days, difficult conditions, or getting my hands dirty. I take pride in showing up, learning, and doing the job right.
My goal is to pursue a career in the electrical trade, preferably through the electrical union, as my military education and experience have given me a strong foundation in the field. That said, I am open to other opportunities within the trades if there is a better fit.
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with someone about apprenticeship opportunities, entry-level positions, or the steps I should take to get started. I am eager to learn, work hard, and build a long-term career in the trades.

I began my career with Viking Electric on February 2, 2025, as a Warehouse Receiver, responsible for receiving, organizing, and processing incoming electrical products. Within my first week, I was recognized for my work ethic and reliability and was offered the opportunity to transition into a Counter Sales Associate position.
As a Counter Sales Associate, I worked directly with electrical contractors, helping them identify and obtain the products they needed to complete their jobs efficiently. This position allowed me to develop strong product knowledge, customer service skills, and a better understanding of the electrical industry and the needs of contractors in the field.
After approximately six months in the position, I was deployed with the Air National Guard. Upon returning from deployment, I was offered an opportunity to advance into an Inside Sales Representative role, which I currently hold.
As an Inside Sales Representative, I manage assigned customer accounts and serve as a business partner to electrical contractors and other customers. My responsibilities include building and maintaining customer relationships, providing product recommendations, sourcing electrical materials, preparing quotes, coordinating orders, and helping customers find solutions that meet their project requirements. This position has given me a deeper understanding of electrical products, distribution, sales, and the day-to-day needs of electrical contractors.
Through my progression at Viking Electric—from warehouse operations to counter sales and now inside sales—I have gained experience across multiple areas of the electrical distribution industry while developing the product knowledge, communication skills, and work ethic necessary to succeed in the electrical trade.
